How you can Help

In Malawi:

  • 90% of the population are subsistence farmers.
  • 76% of the population live on less than $2 per day.
  • 42% of the population live on less than $1 per day.
  • 1 million people live with HIV/AIDS.

The MicroLoan Foundation believes that Africa’s poorest people will enjoy lasting change in their lives through long term, self-sustainable businesses, which will provide food security, education and improved health care.

There are many ways that you can help us: We need volunteers, ambassadors, and committed supporters to start MLF USA Chapters in their cities. You can help us advocate on behalf of the women and their families we assist, and bring fresh ideas to our fundraising activities.

How will it make a difference?

With your support we can help more women on the path to self-sustainability. By developing their entrepreneurial spirit, they can generate income and savings for themselves and their families. Our farmers can grow more food, and diversify their business as protection against drought.

Our clients repay their loans (our current repayment rate is 99%), and we continue to recycle this money over and over again to help more and more women every year. Your donation can go on making an impact on the lives of women and their families long after you have made it.

In addition to making a living for their families, the independence that comes with running their own business means our clients become more self-confident, taking a stronger decision-making role in family life. Through empowering individuals, and providing them with opportunities, training and finance to create new incomes, the economic and social well-being of their communities increases progressively.

Opportunities to assist us are listed on the left of the page. You can;

  • Host fundraisers for us – get creative and watch the support grow.
  • Tell your friends – lots of social media buttons for you to push.
  • Sign up for news updates – we will never share your information, but we may ask you for money from time to time.
  • You can update information (link to update/contact us page), change donation amount, send us news to post (space allowing) and unsubscribe (we hope not).
