The MicroLoan Foundation is an international development organization. We are affiliated with the MicroLoan Foundation UK and MicroLoan Foundation Australia, and our African headquarters are in Kasungu, Malawi and Chipata, Zambia.

Our mission is to reduce poverty and inequality by providing microfinance services to impoverished women living in remote rural areas of sub-Saharan African countries.

We exist to assist the poorest of the poor – the women of sub-Saharan Africa. We believe in helping people to help themselves in order to change their lives for the better.

Our vision for the future is to help millions of people help themselves out of poverty by providing them with the opportunity to start small, self-sustainable businesses.

Currently we have an established network of 21 branches in Malawi supported by over 160 local staff. Having built up a successful first operation there, we have started to develop the model in neighboring sub-Saharan countries. In May, 2009 we made our first loan in Zambia, where we now have four branches.

MicroLoan values the impact that a small amount of money can have on the lives of the poor. We believe in starting small, as small steps lead to big changes.

To find people stuck in poverty who would otherwise struggle to support themselves and others. Help them build a sustainable life.
To do what is right with conviction, sensitivity, enthusiasm, and inventiveness.
To discover the point of greatest leverage where our small intervention can make the biggest impact. You can take a chance with someone if it’s small. Take a million small chances. Don’t stop at a million.
To use our funds and time in a way we can always justify – efficiently, sustainably, effectively, and with strong focus.
